Monster Hunters & Lovers
A downloadable TTRPG
This table top role playing game is a fan game made for Judith Hunts, a twitter bot that posts snippets of procedurally generated gothic horror fiction. A creation of AYolland, the narrative is loosely set in the 18th century, in the fictional country of Translovakia, somewhere in continental eastern Europe, a land full of supernatural wonders and dangers.
The game is a hack of Lasers & Feelings, a free, one-page game system created by John Harper, that creates humorous space opera adventures. Released under creative commons, the simple system has allowed people to create hundreds of games of different genres. You might notice that I said one-page, and this document is twenty. Part of it is layout (half-size pages so it can be printed as a booklet, much larger fonts), part of it is that I added pre-made character sheets, and some snippets to give you a better idea of the setting, but other than that it’s the basic game without changes.
Number of players: 3-6

Great game! I've enjoyed it. I'm inspired to try to make my own solo journaling games and would love your advice on programs/platforms and resources you use? What did you use to make your documents?
Hello! Well, this one was made with LibreOffice, paint.net for the preview image and inkscape for cleaning up and vectorizing the woodcuts.
I have since acquired Affinity Publisher version 1, and it makes many things easier, however there are two things I do not like about it:
- all the tutorial are videos, only. Many people prefer it that way, but for me it's inaccessible
- version 1 is no longer available now, you can only get version 2 which costs almost double. It's still a reasonable price, especially considering that it's a one time payment (rather than Adobe monthly fee) but I had set apart money to also get Affinity Photo and now suddenly it costs twice as much. I don't think it's unreasonable, but I don't like the way they (didn't) announce it.
Still, there's plenty of resources around! Also, look at what others do take note of things you like, and things you don't like. Spend a few minutes trying to figure out what is that make you feel that way. Play around!
this collection, for instance, is a great starting point! https://itch.io/c/1668807/assets-publishing-and-writing
WOW! that's a lot. Thanks for sharing!
